Ford has been playing pipes since 1992. He spent four years with Mesa Caledonia Pipe Band. There, he was pipe sergeant of the grade four band. He was also a founding member of the Spirit of Scotland Band. While there, he was a one-time president and pipe sergeant in 1999 and 2000. He was recently named pipe seargent of the Phoenix Scottish pipe band.

He lives in Glendale with his wife and three children. He enjoys woodworking in his spare time.
