Mike started chanter lessons in 1997 and began playing the pipes in 1998. Playing pipes has been a life long dream, so at age 34 he decided to stop dreaming and start doing. He has played with the Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band for 3 years prior to coming to Phoenix Scottish. By day he is a software engineer with General Dynamics in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has lived in Phoenix since 1988.

In addition to piping, he spends his spare time at his 3 sons' Little League games. Two of those sons, Aaron and Nathan, are also in the band. Mike maintains the band's web site.
